GRADING

Deluded Monkey uses a grading system in addition to photos and a written description (when applicable). This system is the most established and universal way of grading sneakers. However it is not unusual to see some differences and variations to the detailing and definitions of the grades. Deluded Monkey has interpreted and worded the details and definitions below and grades sneakers strictly as this is in the best interests of the customer. The grading system is a guideline so it is always recommended that you check the photos and written description carefully and do not solely rely on the grade.

The grading system takes in to consideration the condition of the uppers and soles.  If there is ever a major difference in the condition of either then it will be explained.  Plus (+) and minus (-) signs may sometimes be used to further help describe the condition.  Factors like whether the sneakers come with their original laces, original insoles and original box will be stated separately. A description of the condition of the box will also included (when applicable).


Deadstock - The sneakers will be in like new condition and show no evidence of wear - from being worn - to the uppers and soles.  They may have been laced up or put on display.  The sneakers may also have some stains or scratches due to manufacturing or storage.  If the sneakers have any imperfections like this but are considered to be in Deadstock condition then it will be clearly explained.

Near Deadstock - The sneakers will show very light signs of wear - from being worn - to the uppers and soles. They may have been laced up or put on display and they may have been tried on or worn a few times. The sneakers may also have some stains or scratches due to manufacturing or storage.   If the sneakers have any imperfections like this but are considered to be in Near Deadstock condition then it will be clearly explained.

Grade 1 / 1st Grade - The sneakers will show light signs of wear to the uppers and soles. There may be some light scuffs, scratches or stains. There will be no serious damage or flaws to the sneakers.

Grade 2 / 2nd Grade - The sneakers will show moderate signs of wear to the uppers and soles.  There may be some moderate scuffs, scratches or stains. There will be no serious damage or flaws to the sneakers.

Grade 3 / 3rd Grade - The sneakers will show heavy signs of wear to the uppers and soles.  There may be some heavy scuffs, scratches or stains. There may be some serious damage or flaws to the sneakers. They will be wearable. There will be no signs of repair work and no holes to the uppers or soles.

Grade 4 / 4th Grade - The sneakers will show very heavy signs of wear to the uppers and soles.  There may be some very heavy scuffs, scratches and stains. The may be some serious damage or flaws to the sneakers. They may not be wearable in which case it will be clearly stated. There may be signs of repair work and there may be holes to the uppers or soles.

Please note - it is extremely unlikely that Grade 3 or Grade 4 sneakers will be sold on Deluded Monkey. The explanation has been included for information purposes.
